How To Create the Perfect Candle Label

One of the MOST common questions we get asked is what are our most popular scents.

The second most commonly asked question is what information should be included on your candle packaging.

Typically, there are two main "packaging" materials - your candle boxes and your labels.

We previously discussed candle box packaging, and today we're continuing the conversation with labels.

Your Branded Candle Label

It's always a good idea to identify your product so your customers know exactly what they're buying.

Now, this can be as simple or complex as you want. Typically, you'll want to include the word "candle" on your label - but it's up to you how much detail you give.

In general, the more information, the better. Any and all information that can encourage your customers to choose your brand over another is always a good thing to include!

We recommend including the type of wax, how and where it's made, the weight of the candle, and the burn time, as these are all great selling points for your product.

For our White Label candles, we use a pure soy wax, which is 100% natural, vegan, and British-sourced. We also use vegan and cruelty-free fragrance oils. Every candle is hand-poured by our team in England.

As standard, our White Label candles are 30cl/300ml and provide 45-50 hours burn time - however these numbers vary depending on fragrance and wax.

What is the best material for Candle Labels?

Whether you are selling your candles for your friends and family, or you're hoping to stock them in your shop, you need to make sure that your candles can manage the heat.

For this reason, we recommend Polypropylene (PP) or Textured Paper materials, as these both are best for heat resistance and safety.

Once you've chosen PP or Paper, there are endless options for the finishes used for your candle label.

Matte, metallic, gloss, or clear... often, the design determines which finish is best.

What size and shape is best for Candle Labels?

Gone are the days where you're limited to a simple square or oval label shape.

While these are great options (and still very popular), there are many ways to set your brand and candles out in the ever-growing candle market.

Shaped labels have been quickly gaining popularity this year, and are a great way further customise your vessel and product.

Alternatively, wrap-around labels are a nice way to feign a customised glass, while providing all the information your customer may need.

Inspiration from the Current Market

Now that you have the essential information, it's time to start designing!

It's always a good idea to look at the brands you already love, to get a sense of what's popular on the market. From there, you can start to brainstorm how you'd like to differentiate your brand.

If you're struggling to visualise your design, or just need help with formatting, our team of designers would love to help! They spend all-day, everyday, looking at candle packaging and design, and are a great resource for advice and tips.
